Their primary duty is to enforce the laws.

Powers of Water Bailiffs
Water bailiffs are there to protect salmon
and sea trout and their environment. They are a
friendly troop, but take their duties
very seriously.
They have powers of arrest
and confiscation, including tackle and vehicles.
