Planting out salmon eggs in an artificial redd.

Salmon eggs which have been so carefully looked after in the preceding months in the hatchery at controlled temperatures are then returned to their very source of origin.

This ensures that they both genetically and environmentally adapted.

Just as well as it was snowing when this was photographed!
