Loch Tay Freshwater Fish Study Project

In 2000 the Board undertook a study into the fish community at the western end of Loch Tay. This study had been prompted because of local observations that a new species, roach, had arrived in the Loch and that numbers of pike were also thought to have increased.

Loch Tay

At the point where the River Dochart enters Loch Tay the fish community has radically changed in recent years with the arrival of a new species, roach.
